AIR-POL Paragliders K-SKY Rescue System

K-SKY emergency system is intended to reduce the falling speed of a pilot in case of an accident while flying a paraglider or a hangglider.

K-SKY

Design, way of folding and manual deployment of the K-SKY emergency system give a possibility of saving the pilot when used at a very low altitude (min. 30 m). Two-strap system of risers protects from rotation during descent and allows up-wind orientation when landing.

Use

In an emergency hold and pull the emergency system release ripcord. This will result in opening of the external container and release of the package containing the canopy with lines. After an energetic throw of the package, the lines unwind, canopy cover is detached and the canopy is deployed. After inspecting the canopy condition the pilot should prepare for landing.
The package of the canopy should be thrown in an open space so that the emergency system lines are not tangled with the paraglider lines or canopy. During spin descent the package should be thrown in the direction of rotation, so as to use the centrifugal force.

Under no circumstances can the emergency system be used for parachute jumping.

Principal rules of operation and storage

The K-SKY emergency system should be re-packed every 6 months. Each re-packing should be preceded by a 24-hour airing in a dry room or in open air in a shade.
Dirt is removed with a slightly warm water with addition of a fine soap, and are then dried in a shade.
Failures revealed during inspection are removed by replacement of elements or repair at the manufacturer's.
Each folding, repair or use should be recorded, with the date, name and signature of the person performing the action.
The storage room should be dry and have a temperature of 0 oC to 30 oC. It is forbidden to use it for storing oils, lubricants, corrosive or flammable materials.

Technical description

K-SKY emergency system consists of a parachute set and an external container. The parachute set consists of a circular canopy, connected by 18 shroud lines and 2 central lines with two risers. Risers are attached to the harness with metal eyes. Folded canopy is placed in a special cover connected with the release ripcord, and the lines are protected from tangling by two rubber rings. Folded parachute set is fitted to a special external container or to an internal container in the harness.
